The tobacco seeds are so small and light that one gram comes with about 10,000 grains.
But you always use a multiple of the required seeds, because you select only the best developed, young plants as seedlings. This applies to the large as well as the cultivation in the garden.
Tobacco cultivation for self-sufficiency is an old thing. In the 19th century, almost every farmer in a suitable location had a small tobacco plantation behind the house, where he cultivated his violet tobacco (also farmed tobacco Nicotinia rustica). Because of the commercial cultivation, or because of the cigarette tobacco but moved the Virginia tobacco (common tobacco, Nicotinia tobacco) and the Maryland tobacco (Nicotina latissima) later in the foreground.
