As a medicinal herb and condiment, the true coriander (Coriandrum sativum) has been grown for many thousands of years. In the tomb of Tutankhamuns, the herb originally from the Mediterranean region was found as a burial object. Not only the spicy seed of the coriander can be used. The bitterly leafy foliage enjoys great popularity, especially in Asia and South America. But also in this country the foliage gets more and more into the culinary culture, so that in the meantime targeted varieties for the special suitability as Blattkoriander are bred.
Since coriander takes an average of 24 weeks from sowing to harvest, the seeds are either sown directly into the bed or early preferred in the house.
