This variety from eastern North America blooms much more vigorously and more intensely than the Mediterranean Judas tree - it is also much more frost-resistant.
 In nature it grows up to 8 m in height, in cultivation, however, it reaches around 3-4 m. Its growth is rather slow, but due to its robustness, the deep pink-pink flowers and the beautiful heart-shaped leaves, it has long been a sought-after cultivated plant. It also shoots multiple stems more often. The cercis owes its nickname of love tree to its heart-shaped leaves.
