Echinocereus triglochidiatus is a sacred cactus of the Tarahumara in Mexico, also known as Hikuri. He can be found in many states of the USA and northern Mexico, where he gets by in very different locations: stony ones
 Desert, shady coniferous forests, crevices in the mountains up to 3500m altitude.

 Since it forms dense, hilly cushions, which consist of up to several hundred individual rungs, which protect each other from the weather, it can withstand colder temperatures.
